Two for the Road

28 May 2010 Comments Open

From almost the beginning, the blogosphere has been the Wild West on the communications border; home to radical groups, searching bands of fundamentalists and even Catholics. Having been reading and searching the web for quality content we have turned up rather a lot of good material both specifically Jesuit and more broadly Catholic. This month ACTS urges you to click one or both of the featured links below to see what some church folks are talking about. And, when so inspired, join in the conversation.

Whispers in the Loggiawhispersintheloggia.blogspot.com

Featuring the writing of Rocco Palmo, Loggia has been up and running since 2004. A former US correspondent for the London-based international Catholic weekly The Tablet, Palmo’s served as a church analyst for The New York Times, Associated Press, BBC, NBC, National Public Radio, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and a host of other print and broadcast outlets worldwide.

Palmo’s observations are very Vatican centered and he does an excellent job keeping you up to date on the gossip. Definitely your go to guy when men in red outfits are in the news.

Whosoever Desireswhosoeverdesires.wordpress.com

An excellent example of a collaborative work of six Jesuit Scholastics engaged in a far ranging, ongoing conversation about faith. An entertaining and challenging read into the minds of younger Jesuits at the moment. You will be surprised at the fertile mix of opinion and position.

In response to the following question the authors of this blog wrote – Does the world really need another blog about religion?
Probably not. But we think we have an interesting perspective in following the same spirit that compelled Ignatius to God in all things. Therefore, united in hearts and minds by the service of the Body of Christ, we attempt to address art, music, politics, culture — everything that moves us — in light of our faith in God, which is to say, contemplatively.
