Upcoming Vocation Retreats
If you’re thinking about a Jesuit vocation then plan on attending a vocation retreat this year. Retreats and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius are a special part of Jesuit life as our order places important decisions in the context of prayer and honest spiritual conversation.
Seattle University’s Jesuit community will be hosting a retreat for men in various stages of discernment for life as a Jesuit the weekend of October 24th (that’s next month, if you’re still in denial about the end of summer, like me). It will take place in Issaquah, WA and transportation can be provided if necessary. Please contact Mike Bayard, SJ (bayardm@seattleu.edu) or Glen Butterworth, SJ (gbutterworth@nwjesuits.org) for more info including times and directions.
Keep in mind that only a few such retreats are offered each year and it’s recommended that you attend one if you’re heading in the direction of applying to the Society. Another event that will be coming up in few months is an actual visit to the St. Francis Xavier Novitiate in Portland, OR. Contact your spiritual or vocation director for details.
Additionally, on Saturday Oct. 25th the Yakima Diocese has a vocation retreat at St. Aloysius in Toppenish. If you are interested in learning more about a diocesan path at this point, please contact Fr. Wilmar for more information (frwilmar@yakimavocations.org).
