Jesuitas España

14 November 2008 Comments Open

There are today, many years after the suppression and restoration of the Society, five Jesuit provinces in Spain ( Provincia de Aragón, Provincia Bética [Andalucía y Canarias], La Provincia de Castilla, Jesuitas Loiola Probintzia, Jesuïtes de Catalunya [Tarraconense]).

Jesuits work in some 40 parishes spread throughout the country. In addition to these ministries the Jesuits also serve in two major universities (the Basque Universidad de Deusto & the centrally located Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid). Additionally, they operate five collegiate residences in close proximity to other notable institutions. Thirty-four Jesuit high schools educate thousands of students in cities such as Barcelona in the east, Pamplona in the north, and Seville in the south.

From the social apostolate to the spiritual exercises to technical training schools, the Spanish Jesuits are active in a vast array of works.
